Empowering Indigenous Voices in Cannabis: The 3rd Annual National Indigenous Cannabis Policy Summit Comes to Washington, D.C.
By Let’s Talk Hemp
This November, Washington D.C. will serve as a hub for thought leadership, advocacy, and progress in the Indigenous cannabis space, as the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association (ICIA) hosts the3rd Annual National Indigenous Cannabis Policy Summit. From November 13-15, Tribal leaders, policymakers, businesses, healthcare professionals, veterans, and advocates will gather in the nation’s capital to confront some of the most significant challenges—and opportunities—in the cannabis and hemp sectors for Indigenous communities.
Set in a pivotal election year, the theme for this year’s summit, “Tribal Cannabis Reform Moving Forward,” emphasizes a proactive approach to cannabis reform with a focus on the sovereign rights of Indigenous communities. For Rob Pero, founder of the ICIA and Wisconsin-based hemp company Canndigenous, the summit is both a powerful moment to influence national policy and a vital step toward dismantling decades-old stigmas around cannabis within Indigenous communities.
