Denver, CO (July 29, 2021) – We Are For Better Alternatives (WAFBA) and Let’s Talk Hemp Media are pleased to announce a robust line-up of informative programming during the upcoming Southern Hemp Expo at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, NC.

Southern Hemp Expo is the most extensive hemp trade show on the East Coast, designed for hemp business leaders, entrepreneurs, and farmers to gather and learn new innovations, directly from industry experts.

Business Conference, Thursday, Sep. 2
The three-day event, including an Expo Hall, education stages and breakout rooms, kicks off with the Let’s Talk Hemp Business ConferenceThursday Sep. 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Educational and interactive panels will discuss the exciting convergences of hemp, cannabis, regenerative agriculture, opportunity zones and more. During the morning keynote session, ground-breaking cannabis medical expert Dr. Uma Dhanabalan will address how cannabis can be used as a plant medicine. She will also join the speaker lineup on Friday, Sep. 3 at the Southern Hemp Expo Farm Symposium.

Legal and compliance updates, including the state of Delta 8 and FDA regulations, will be available from notable attorney speakers including Bob Hoban and Scheril Murray Powell, Esq. and U.S Hemp Authority president Dr. Marielle Weintraub. Cannabis and wellness experts will give the latest research, along with panels of professional athletes discussing CBD, including former NFL Superbowl champion Matt Wilhelm and former NCAA soccer champion Rachael Rapinoe. Investment opportunities and strategies in hemp and cannabis will be discussed by Morgan Paxhia of Poseidon Asset Management. A networking luncheon is included.

Farm Symposium, Friday, Sep. 3
The Let’s Talk Hemp Farm Symposium on Friday Sep. 3 between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will feature displays of new machinery and farm technology, and discussions of hemp fiber processing, hemp as livestock feed, soil health and genetics, harvesting and processing innovations, the new carbon economy and more. Agriculture producers will learn about vertical integration, biochar, USDA updates, crop pivots from CBD to grain and fiber and value-add supply chain strategies.  

Speakers will include Ben Dobson, CEO of Hudson Hemp, Dr. Arnab Bhowmik, soil scientist from North Carolina A & T University, and New Mexico hemp farmer and bestselling author Doug Fine. A networking luncheon is included.

Experience Hemp Day, General Admission, Saturday, Sep. 4
The Expo Hall will be open to the public on Experience Hemp Day, Saturday Sep. 4, between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and tickets for Saturday are only $11 with early bird pricing. Hundreds of exhibitors will display booths covering every part of the emerging hemp supply chain including farming, processing, biofuel, textiles, fiber, CBD, pet treats, hemp foods and beverages and building materials. The public can meet entrepreneurs and learn from speakers on the Education Stage, Let’s Talk Hemp Main Stage and attend break-out sessions about opportunities and trends in the exploding U.S. and global hemp industries. 

Speakers will cover the endocannabinoid system, veterans and CBD, social influencers and more. Ticket giveaways for the North Carolina Courage women’s soccer team will be available during a presentation by soccer champion Rachael Rapinoe. A free screening of the hemp building documentary Bringing it Home, featuring North Carolina’s first hemp house, will take place, with Q & A from filmmaker Linda Royal, followed by a live demonstration of building with hempcrete.
