Love In the Time of 0.3% THC
By Doug Fine, Author, American Hemp Farmer
I just waved goodbye to our state hemp inspector, a delightful, overworked woman in a successful program. I’d call our New Mexico hemp effort top-tier, with everyone at the New Mexico Department of Agriculture wanting farmers to succeed. More than two thousand acres are sequestering carbon as we speak in the Land of Enchantment. In terms of stress, the worst part of having a hemp inspection, for me, is having to shave and put on clean clothes. OK, clothes at all.

On Campfires, Hemp and Cooling the Globe
By Ron Alcalay, Ph.D., Founder and CEO, Vital Hemp
I went camping with my nine-year-old daughter about a month ago, up the California coast to Big Sur. We enjoyed my favorite trail up a river gorge to a large swimming hole, and in the evening ate s’mores around the campfire. For a few days, we almost forgot the worries of the world, that would intrude, like the asthma attacks I suffered inexplicably every night.

Hemp Legislative Language Stalled in California
By Steven Hoffman
After intense negotiations in late August with California Governor Gavin Newsom’s team, hemp industry leaders were feeling bullish that they had struck an eleventh-hour deal to prevent undue restrictions on the sale of hemp and CBD products in the state of California.
They also were hopeful that proposed legislative language favorable to the industry would be passed before the state legislature took its final recess for the year on August 31.
However, despite much effort by industry leaders and lobbyists, the proposed language failed to pass “for the time being” that “would explicitly permit the retail sale of hemp-derived CBD as a dietary supplement, cosmetic and food and beverage additive,” the U.S. Hemp Roundtable announced on September 1.
