Hemp Extraction is ‘Crushing It’ With New US Facilities
By Jean Lotus
One of the pioneering CBD and extraction companies in the United States is partnering with a startup southeastern US online exchange to move the industry forward with high-level processing and support for farmers from seed to sale, founders said.
Hilton Head Island, S.C.-based Hemp Extraction, an offshoot of usCBDPur, is one of several supply chain partners in GRENEx, an online marketplace platform offering support systems to farmers.

Decorticating Hemp in America’s Heartland
By Heather Collins
Set amongst the golden sea of corn off Interstate 80 in Giltner, Nebraska, sits a patch of hemp that agricultural leader Andrew Bish wants to turn into fiber.
Determined to make that dream a reality, Andrew, along with the team from his family’s third-generation farm equipment company, Bish Enterprises, is on a mission to create more efficient ways for hemp farmers and manufacturers to produce clean fiber and hurd from dried hemp stalks.

Health and Safety Update for Southern Hemp Expo
As an update for our constituents, the producers of Southern Hemp Expo, Sept. 2-4, 2021, in Raleigh, NC, continue to closely monitor Covid-19 developments. With the safety of everyone in mind, we are working closely with the Raleigh Convention Center regarding practicing the utmost safety protocols.
As such, we remain confident in being able to present an event with heightened safety protocols in place, one in which our industry can gather conscientiously, safely, productively…and enjoyably. TAKE ACTION
Support the “Regulate CBD Now” Campaign
As we enter the last two weeks of Congress in session, U.S. Hemp Roundtable is encouraging hemp industry leaders to do a social push to promote the new RegulateCBDnow.com website and campaign. USHR is asking industry members to please share the following text and link on your company Twitter and LinkedIn accounts sometime (or multiple times) starting now (7/20) through Friday, July 30:
Tell Congress to #RegulateCBDnow! Visit https://regulateCBDnow.com and use the online portal to take action today by contacting your members of Congress urging them to support critical legislation that would regulate #CBD as a dietary supplement and/or food and beverage additive!
Also feel free to share and promote the Regulate CBD Now Press Conference held during our Summer 2021 meeting in Denver. Here is ashort clip for social media and the YouTube link.
Contact Alyssa Erickson at USHR, alyssa@hempsupporter.com for more info.
If you or a loved one are a medical cannabis patient, this affects you. Ti is an autistic 15 year old who was abruptly removed from his mother/medical caregiver on June 3, 2021 by Child Welfare Services in Hawaii. This GoFundMe has been set up to pay for his legal fees needed to promptly dismiss the CWS case and enforce their civil and medical rights to have access to his medical professionals to participate in providing for his medical needs. Any donation no matter how big or small means we are that much closer to getting Ti back.
Support H.R. 841, The Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act
In September 2020, U.S. Reps. Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Morgan Griffith (R-VA) introduced the Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act – a bill which would provide a clear legal pathway for the sale of hemp extracts like CBD, while ensuring that products must comply with the rigorous regulatory framework existing for dietary supplements. The bill garnered broad bi-partisan support. On Feb. 7, 2021, Reps. Schrader and Griffith and 17 of their colleagues reintroduced the bill as H.R. 841. Support passage of the bill here.
Urge Your Members of Congress to Support Our Troops’ Access to CBD
On July 20, 2020, the U.S. House of Representatives approved an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to allow service members to use products containing hemp, including CBD. Unfortunately, the amendment was not included in the Senate’s version of the NDAA, which passed on July 23, and was not included in the final bill. However, as a new Congress meets this year, they are hoping for another hearing. Learn more.
The 2018 Farm Bill authorized hemp production but used an outdated definition of hemp that does not work for farmers or the hemp industry. The current definition limiting hemp to 0.3% THC has proven unworkable, forcing many farmers to destroy their crops. Congress must change the definition of hemp to allow up to 1% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) so that farmers can grow hemp without fearing that they will later have to destroy them. Add your name to the Vote Hemp petition urging Congress to redefine hemp as up to 1% THC.
Fix, Marry or Kill? Hemp Needs Your Help in HI, MA, MN and MO
The U.S. Hemp Roundtable has identified bills that need the hemp industry’s attention in key states including Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Missouri. Click here to learn more and take action.
Let’s Bring Industrial Hemp to Farm Aid
In 1985, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp decided to put on a concert for America’s family farmers who were in dire need of assistance. They raised over $7 million in that first year and Farm Aid have been helping to support America’s family farmers ever since. We’re asking you to join us in asking Farm Aid to make industrial hemp a focus of this year’s event and into the future. Sign the petition here.
Urge Support for AB 45 and SB 235 in California
AB 45 and SB 235 are the California state Assembly and Senate versions of a bill that would allow the distribution and sale of hemp-derived CBD as a food, beverage, and dietary supplement, and make clear that a product is not adulterated or misbranded due to the inclusion of hemp. These are high-priority bills that have been near passage in California since 2019. If signed into law, AB 45 and SB 235 will open an important retail market for CBD consumers. Take action here.
Support S. 1698, The Hemp Access and Consumer Safety Act
S. 1698, The Hemp Access and Consumer Safety Act, which would establish a legal and regulatory pathway for the sale of hemp-derived extract products such as CBD as dietary supplements and food and beverage additives., needs your support. We applaud Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Jeff Merkley (D-OR) for sponsoring this bill ,which will help stabilize hemp markets, open a promising economic opportunity for U.S. farmers, and protect consumers by requiring hemp extract product manufacturers to comply with the entire existing comprehensive regulatory framework for ingestible products. Urge your Senators to support S. 1698 – visit this form letter at hempsupporter.com.
