U.S. Hemp Roundtable to Congress: 2023 Farm Bill Should Address FDA’s Inaction on CBD

By Steven Hoffman

In a historic, first hearing held by Congress on hemp and CBD, U.S. Hemp Roundtable Vice President Eric Wang urged legislators to address FDA’s inaction on CBD regulations in the 2023 federal Farm Bill. The hearing, “An Examination of the USDA’s Hemp Production Program,” was held on July 28 by the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture and Research.

Wang, USHR’s VP of Sustainability and CEO of Ecofibre, a leading hemp manufacturer with offices in Australia, Lexington, KY, and Greensboro, NC, encouraged legislators to incorporate language in the 2023 Farm Bill that would regulate cannabidiol (CBD) and other non-intoxicating hemp derivatives as dietary supplements.

Family-owned Charleston Hemp Collective on a Mission to Bring Hemp Products to Everyone

By Elizabeth Lunt

Just a few years ago, Libiss Skinner spent her days as a real estate agent while her husband Matt Skinner was working as a mortgage broker in Charleston, SC, but both felt ready for something they felt more passionate about. When Libiss began to research cannabis for her ulcerative colitis – an illness she had long struggled with – they found their answer. Finding relief with hemp products, she and Matt established Charleston Hemp Collective. Working with local farmers and developing hemp-derived products (a process they dubbed “from seed to soul”) from tinctures & topicals to edibles & products for pets, the Skinners now operate four retail stores in the Southeast, one of which was recently acknowledged by the Charleston City Paper as one of the best CBD shops in Charleston.
