The Many Uses of Hemp at Southern Hemp Expo (SHE4)
By Elizabeth Lunt
The explosion of interest in hemp products since the Farm Bill of 2018 has gone in many directions, including fiber, building materials and even guitars. A strong and renewable building material, hemp is moving into the spotlight in natural building arenas as it gains ground on certification efforts.
Reflecting the hemp plant’s many uses, a wide variety of hemp products will be on display at this year’s Southern Hemp Expo (SHE4) taking place on August 18-20, in Nashville, TN, presented by entrepreneurs, producers and others on the vanguard of hemp innovation.

The 4th Annual Southern Hemp Expo (SHE4) is Here! Music City Meeting Will Showcase Fast-Growing US Hemp Industry
In its return to Music City, USA, the 4th Annual Southern Hemp Expo, presented by First Citizens Bank, will include a number of new events: a smokable hemp flower garden with displays from an oft-overlooked segment of the industry, the Nashville Hemp Food & Beverage Fair + Music Festival featuring live music and hemp food and beverages, and an immersive and educational hemp game show called “not-so-high” hosted by Affektiv Games.
“The industry exploded after industrial hemp was legalized in 2018, and has since retracted and faced a variety of challenges, most related in some way to the FDA’s lack of regulatory action pertaining to cannabinoids” said Morris Beegle, Southern Hemp Expo organizer and president and founder of We Are for Better Alternatives (WAFBA). “We are optimistic about future growth and we will discuss in detail the opportunities coming down the pipe for the industry,” he added. Tickets for the expo are available now, featuring many speakers, exhibitors and opportunities to meet and mingle with industry professionals and experts.

Hemp in Animal Feed Webinar Answers Questions, Exposes Hurdles
By Jean Lotus, PanXchange
Hemp ingredients in animal feed still have a long journey to regulatory approval in the United States, said regulatory officials during a “Why Isn’t Hemp in Animal Feed?” webinar August 9. But collaboration and clarity will move the industry forward, panelists said.
More than 700 viewers participated in the online event co-hosted by the National Industrial Hemp Council of America (NIHC) and the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO). Moderators were Jesse Campbell and Steve Davies, reporters from Agri-Pulse.

Sergiy Kovalenkov, aka Doctor Hemphouse, one of the world’s renowned specialists in building with hemp, is appealing to the hemp industry for help in rebuilding war-torn Ukraine, including building Ukraine’s biggest social housing project to date — a 10,000-sq.-ft. residential building to house refugees and orphans who lost their parents to the war. In particular, the project is seeking builders, sponsors, automated block-making machinery and a hempcrete spraying system.
